Mighty Hunter

This layout is of my son Rick when he was 17,after a day bird hunting with his friend and both of them were lucky enough to each get a goose .He was so proud.Surprisingly...I did not struggle too much with this boy layout and it didn't take the usual 6 hours...only took about 4!
 The first thing I did was use my hole punch around the page.I  used the punch upside down and just put the paper halfway through.I then weaved some burlap with some green patterned paper from K and Company and sewed around  the edges.The brown paper is from Kand Company Wild saffron line.I picked the dried grass on my way home from the beach and the branches and leaves are from the dollar store.I also twirled some wire around a paint brush to add to the grasss arrangement.

 The bird and butterfly are also from K and Company.I applied a some brown chaulk around the seams and the letters to give them a more muted look.

Just added a few buttons and Postage stamps.Thanks for looking and have a great week!!!

TCR # 21

It has been so long since I did a palette from the Color Room but when I saw this weeks beautiful colors I could not resist!I wanted to try and do something a little different,use negative space and boy did I struggle!This is my second attempt...my first was to use the sketch but that wasn't working either.The paper,butterfly and little frame are from k and Company(not sure which line).

I ruffled some pink streamer and glued to the circle and twisted some pink and orange rik rak for some extra detail.I then did some handstitching with black embroidery.I also added a little paint behind the streamers.I handmade the bling,the pink pipe cleaner flower and the center of the orange flower.The mirror butterfly was bought at the dollar store and the rub-ons are from Pink Paislee.Thanks for looking and have a great weekend

Beautiful Mia

This is another layout using the August Scrap That! Kit.I did this as a gift for friends who adopted this little angel from China last year.The bird and butterflies are from My Minds Eye and the larger one is from a file I printed from Swirlydoos...they have so many beautiful butterfly files.

I made the fence and painted it ivory and cut some leaves from the paper.I made the banner using scallop scissors and glued  the lace to the back and did a little hand stitching.The trim around the photo was bought at Walmart.Thanks for looking and I hope you had a great weekend!Now, I have to go clean the scraproom....What a mess!!!

Credit Card Painting

I guess I should of explained myself a bit better!This is a great new way to use your credit card for scrapbooking(and it also makes our husbands alot happier).It's quite simple.Just put a squirt of paint on some old paper and just run the card through the paint.Just tap the card on the scrap paper to remove any excess paint.Now all you have to do is just run the card along your photo or layout randomly until you get the desired effect.Always helps to do a couple of practice runs!I seen this technique on someone's bloq...if you know who, let me know so I can give them the credit.I really like the  end result!Happy Scrapping!

Be all that you Can be

Hi everyone...can't believe I have  another layout completed,usually do one a week.This is my son Rick on his graduation day last year. I used  papers from My mind's Eye Meadowlark dawn collection...they are gorgeous..really nice for wedding layouts.I did the usual stitching and some more painting with the credit card and applied some red glitter glue to the flowers along the top.

I used my Martha Stewart Iron Gate punch and glued ribbon underneath for a pop of red

.I  applied Diamond dust to the dragonfly and the black Prima Flower.The letters,flower center,dragonfly and bird are all from K and company(all on sale at Michaels).I handmade the bling and the small black rose and the quote on the fence is also from My Minds eye..I just applied it to transparency and applied white paint to the back so you could see the quote better.I edited the photo in Fotoflexer...great site.Anyway...going to start another layout today using the beautiful August Scrap That! Cute as a Button

Hi everyone!I made this layout of Claudine using the Scrap that August Kit...it is beautiful!

I did lots of chaulking,hand stitching ansd sewing.The kit came withe 3 pieces of fabric,yellow, blue and some pink tulle which I used to make the ruffled edge and some of the roses.I made the bling using the blue liquid pearls that was also included in the kit(there is a tutorial in a previous post).I used a credit card dipped in paint to make the lines around the photo(saw that idea somewhere but don't know where).When I was at Micheals on Monday(rare treat because it is 4 hours away)I bought a some Diamond Dust...that stuff is beautiful!I used it on the butterfly and the flowers....its a bit hard to see on the photos but is so pretty
in real life!Thanks for looking!!!
 

First Publication!!!

Well, I am beyond excited today!!!! I received an E-mail from Scrapbook News and Reviews Magazine and my By the Sea layout will be featured in the August 29th issue.Cannot believe it...little old me published...blows my mind.In addition to being chosen Artist of the Month at the wonderful site Pages in Time,this has been a WONDERFUL week. I don't want it to appear that I am bragging,but as fellow scrapbookers,only you can understand my excitment and the need to tell someone.Hope you all have a great day!

What I Love About You

Hi everyone...thought I'd share this layout with you.This is my daughter Claudine when she was about 7...can't believe how fast time is passing me by(before you know it, christmas will be here).Here are a few close-ups.

I used K & Company Que Sera Sera paper series and went crazy with the paint.I distressed and inked the edges and sewed the white cardstock on top and applied Broken China stickles along the seams.I also applied yellow paint to the bg paper.I handstitched around the circle, and the hearts and did a little bit of punchwork on the cardstock and behind the bow.Most of the flowers I bought at the dollar store except for the small ribbon roses,which I made myself following a video I saw on youtube.The title is a rub-on applied to a transparency sheet

I cut the large butterfly from the paper,made the body from beads and applied glitter to give it a little shimmer.I made the smaller ones from a stencil and just applied crystals for the body and some glitter.

Later this week, I will be posting a couple of butterfly tutorials.Hope you have a great day!

Bling Flourishes Tutorial

Hi everyone...This is my first ever attempt at a tutorial so please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions to make it better!
Supplies:

Transparency Sheet
Ranger Dimensional Pearls(Liquid Pearls ,Scribbles or any Fabric Paint work fine)
Tape
Scissors
Exacto Knife
Printer
Printed Pictures of bling( Click HERE for the ones I use)
OR
Leftover Transparency sheets from Used bling
Ok...Here we go....this is really very easy!
Step 1:

Print your bling images and tape the transparency sheet over the image you want to copy.Using your liquid pearls,carefully follow the dots on the image.Be careful not to place the dots too close together.For those who prefer to use the leftover bling sheets, just follow the indentaions in the sheet for your design.The dots will have peaks but to give them a more rounded, flat look, gently flick  underneath the paper before they dry.I usually go a couple of inches and then tap the paper.You can use  one color or use a couple of colors to compliment your project.Let dry 1-2 hours ,depending on how large your dots are.

Step 2:
Once the dots are dry,using your scissors,carefully cut around the design .I sometimes use my Exacto knife for the little places in between.You will not notice the transparency sheet once it is placed on your LO.To fasten it to my project,I usually use a glue dot behind an embellishment.All done!!
I have seen other tutorials where you scan your new crystal flourish, and place your sheet on the printed image.Great idea for those who have a scanner(not me).Or if you are really good, you can draw your own flourishes.If the above images are not big enough, you can always enlarge them in Microsoft Word.
Making your own bling is a project that improves with practice so don't be discouraged if your first attempt is not perfect.Here area couple of layouts where I made my own.If you have any questions,feel free to contact me.

My Beautiful Backyard!

Hi everyone...for my very first post, I want to show you my little corner of the world! I live in a small community in Newfoundland, Canada and this is my backyard...the beautiful(but very cold) Atlantic Ocean. It is amazingly beautiful in the summer and bitterly cold during the winter but I would not trade it for anything!

I took this photo last night...that is my husband fishing from the beach.
